Casinos and Covid
Okay, so I’ve asked this before, but no one really had any idea because no one had been in the casinos. Since this all started, I’ve had to deliver to two different casinos, the El Dorado and the Peppermill, and I’ve had to walk significant lengths through both, that passed tables, slots, you name it. Here’s what I did see: No one playing (or able to) play slots near others. 1-2 people at a dealer table max, anyone who wasn’t wearing a mask was immediately approached and asked to put one on, if they said no, they were asked to leave (I did see this happen a few times) and if they did anything but accept an escort to get a mask, security was called. Here’s what I didn’t see: A crazy packed casino with absolutely no enforcement of mask rules, like what is commonly posted on Reddit. So, now I’m curious, is this the case with every casino and we as a city are targeting them for spreading Covid because they’re the easiest target, or are El Dorado and Peppermill the sole exceptions while every other casino sucks? I can easily say that going to Costco, Raley’s (employees have told me they aren’t allowed to approach customers at Raley’s about masks), Wal-Mart, and Target has been a joke with the mask policy, because everywhere is afraid to kick the people out or even approach them, and I definitely see less people at any of those stores wearing masks, than I did at the Casinos. Edit: Most people are saying the same, Casinos aren’t nearly as bad as Reddit makes it out to be. So that being said, I’m not sure all the newcomers to Reno understand that without the Casinos, we don’t have income in our state, and they also employ a ridiculous number of employees. Can we as a community stop incorrectly targeting these locations, while continuing to target actual offenders of the Covid mandates?
Sheldon Adelson's Las Vegas Sands in talks to sell Vegas Strip properties
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 66%. (I'm a bot)
LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas Sands Corp. is considering selling its two hotel-casinos on The Strip, the company confirmed to the Reno Gazette Journal Monday. News of the potential sale comes at a time when Las Vegas Strip properties are struggling to attract visitors due to COVID-19 travel fallout. Las Vegas Sands Corp last week reported a third-quarter loss of $565 million, after reporting a profit in the same quarter last year. Following Bloomberg's report, the company's stock jumped more than 3%.'We're in a world of hurt'The disappearance of conventions in the wake of COVID-19 contributed to a second quarter loss of almost $1 billion for Las Vegas Sands. "Las Vegas cannot perform without return of these segments," said Las Vegas Sands President and COO Rob Goldstein in a July earnings call. His Las Vegas Sands Corp. is one of the largest casino and resort companies in the world with the Venetian and Palazzo resorts on the Strip and lucrative casinos in Macau.

How has Blackjack Changed during the pandemic? Haven't played since this started, what are your observations? I've read only three to a table, face mask required and hand sanitizer provided. Not much more info out there. Have they changed pitch games (Double Deck) to face up now? Do you touch and move the chips? How do the plastic barriers work, can you still get a good view of all the cards? How safe is it? Has anyone heard of covid cases from casino? Would I look out of place with face mask + face shield? I read once that they ask for ID now, since they can't visually ID you. Any First hand info on conditions in California (north or south) or Nevada (reno, tahoe or vegas) would be great.
It was getting really tedious to edit a post with over 100 casinos in it. So I'm breaking it up to Nevada casinos and non-Nevada casinos. If you are reporting about a casino, could you please try to include the following:
Name of the casino
Where it's located
What time of day and is it a weekday or weekend?
Max odds
Field pays
Side bets available (Repeater, ATS, Firebet)
Are there dividers or how many are shooting per side
The more information we have, the better off we will be. We all know that tables can change rapidly. I saw a table go from 25 to 15 to 100 at the Flamingo in the course of a few hours. I'll try to keep the mins what is reported the most and add other information in the comments like "found this table at $5 on graveyard shift" so people konw that isn't the norm These tables can be a pain to maintain, so please provide as much information as possible. An informed roller is a beter roller.

Craps table opens up at 10am and its 5 dollars 90% of the time
Any structural engineers in Reno area or want to move to Reno area?
Happy Friday reddit structural engineers. It’s naptownfellow the Structural engineering headhunter. I need a structural engineer with their PE willing to move to the Reno Nevada area. Ful relocation paid if you are in the US. We are preferably looking for someone who’s got management skills or wants to manage a couple people but hasn’t had the chance but it’s not a must have. If you just want to be a number crunching structural engineer that would be OK as well. The salary, depending on experience and whether or not you’re willing to manage people, is somewhere between $100,000 and $120,000+ as well as bonus, benefits, 401(k) etc.. This is a permanent position with an established company. (We will also need an EIT or brand new PE type candidate once we get this person in place however if you’re a rockstar and are interested in this opportunity but don’t have your PE yet please contact me as well. They would consider bringing on the EIT first if they were that good) Reno has a great ski resort close, casinos, lots of mountains and is a quick flight to west coast beaches. Relatively low cost of living compared to any major city and some rule areas. Must have a BSCE or BSAE with a PE in any state as long as you can reciprocate to get CA and NV. SE would be awesome but probably unrealistic. Steel design a plus too. We will consider h1B sponsorship or similar for the right candidate. This is not a consulting firm and it does require this position to be in the office the majority of the time. With Covid they understand that there will be situations where you can work from home but the precautions they put in place, social distancing, and mask wearing has kept them safe. Not a single case of Covid with anyone in the office, any other part of the company or immediate family members of employees. I’ll answer pretty much every question I can on this thread and if it’s something more confidential feel free to private message me.
It was getting really tedious to edit a post with over 100 casinos in it. So I'm breaking it up to Nevada casinos and non-Nevada casinos. On a side note, heading to Vegas on Thursday. I'll try to write a trip report and update the minimums as I can. I'm there 9 days and We will be hitting more than 10 casinos, so I expect to be busy. Without further ado: Last update: 9/29

Part 1. It's getting buried so I figured we would make a new one. Part 2 Part 3
Why does it seem like everyone has stopped caring about COVID?
I'm scheduled for a surgery I've been waiting for for 9 months. It's in a couple of weeks. Beforehand, I have to get a covid test and if I'm positive, obviously I dont get the surgery. I work in retail and I'm on light duty so I'm not walking around much interacting with people, but I'm trying extremely hard to mask on and social distance and sanitize because I'm just not risking anything right now. I haven't been able to walk properly for 9 months. I overhear my coworkers talking about going to Vegas or Reno and going to casinos, going out to eat, getting their nails done and it stresses me out and makes me think wtf? When did we decide we're just over taking precautions? Just because you're tired of it doesnt mean it's gone?
Question about tourists in the Monterey/Carmel area
I am in the Reno area and the general feeling towards tourists from California right now is "stay the fuck home" because they are just coming to gamble in the already not covid compliant casinos. My question is how is it in your area concerning tourists? My wife and I got married right around when the lock downs happened and never had a honey moon. We love the area and are thinking about spending a few nights there at the end of August. We know the area well and would mostly be hanging out at the beach, driving the 1, and getting a sandwich at Randy's. No dining in, just groceries from Trader's or Safeway and no tourist gathering spots for us even under normal circumstances. Anything we should know before we consider going? We would be staying at a B&B in Pacific Grove.
Report your table minimums here (COVID Edition) part 3
Part 3 in the COVID series. To try and make this list more helpful, I have added Weekend Day and Weekend Night, as those can be vastly different than during the week. I'm trying to monitor Twitter and the Vegas Message Board to get some additional information. Keep sharing all that wonderful goodness. I'd like to update the wiki to talk about what sidebets casinos have, so if you know that info, I can add it to the table comments.

*Last update 8/21 Part 1. It's getting buried so I figured we would make a new one. Part 2 Pulled additional info from here.
Yesterday I was at Peppermill Casino in Reno after a class for work I took near Tahoe. I’ve been playing online “seriously” since a little before COVID started, using some sites like “Red Chip Poker” to learn the ropes. So anyways, I sat down at the table yesterday ($1/2)nervous as all fucking hell. I worse a jacket, and I was hot, because I knew it would hide my jittery ness with my hands and arms from nerves. I noticed during live, idk if it’s nerves, but I had a real hard time keeping track of pot actual sizes so I did it merely off guesses. I noticed too, hopefully with nerves, calculating SP pot sizes/ bet sizes/ etc...was harder. I’m fairly good with math, but I was wondering if the people here think it is nerves or how do you do it? I also noticed the $1/$2 was relatively soft. I played for about 1.5-2hrs, started with $250, left with $435, also tipped/ 1 beer to calm my self a total of $40, for a win of ~$475. Ive definitely learned a lot, I made a few mistakes as far as understanding how to do things at an actual casino. Overall, I did have fun, I guess ultimate question I have is, for a beginner LIVE player, what does the reddit community see as something beginner LIVE players do as mistakes? I never took too long to act, probably max it took me to act was maybe 20 seconds on 1 hand. A reg even made a comment that “as much action as you give kid, take your time”. I was playing a little looser than I do online, only because I was making the adjustment from full-ring to the 6 max table I was at. 4/6 of us the dealers knew by first name. The regs were intimidating too, in your casino are they usually good? Or they are just the people who just usually like to play, not necessarily good? Idk, LIVE was nerve wrecking as hell for me.
Since I was able to find so much helpful information on this subreddit, I thought I would pay back the favor and talk about my experience. Maybe it helps someone freaking out reading internet medical advise at 2am like me. About six years ago I found that I had a small gallstone after I had a really severe attack while driving. I was unsure about what happen with describe the pain to my doctor and an ultrasound confirmed that I had a small gallstone. At that time I decided to try to go the natural route: flushes, went vegetarian, no drinking, clean living. The symptoms went away and I kind of forgot about it over time. I guess that whole time I sort of felt an uncomfortable but non painful sensation under my lower right rib. I also thought maybe it was psychosomatic. Well life happens- I’m just not wired to be that kind of guy. I don’t eat like crap for the most part but I just can’t do vegan for the rest of my life. A couple of months ago, post Covid, I was eating like crap- frequent delivery food, drinking at home. After a particularly bad meal which was bad even for me (double cheeseburger) the next morning I felt an elephant standing on my abdomen and some lower right pain too. Nothing helped and I almost went to the emergency room if was so bad. I thought I’d dry to make myself throw up to release some pressure and it helped quiet a bit. That drove me to seek a GI, ultrasound showed multiple stones but no measurements were able to be taken. I interviewed a few surgeons and found a good one. We set up for laparoscopic surgery about a month later. I chose a long delay so that I could diet and exercise and chill out my gall bladder. I only had one mild attack in that time (interestingly got some pale stool from that, reinforcing my decision). The night before I thought I ate pretty well, lean fresh chicken sausage, veggies, brown rice. Maybe the chicken was a little bit spicy- but the surgeon commented that the gallbladder was inflamed. I went to outpatient surgery at 6:30am, started surgery at 8 and was awake before 9:30. They found 2 big stones and few smaller ones. In the fluorescent test there was one tiny one that had to be left behind because it went missing. He told my wife it was really small and should pass. I’ll learn more during my follow up. I’m a really nervous person and was freaking out so much before this, fearing for the worst. Here’s all the stuff I worried about: IV - they gave a small numbing shot before that barely hurt. The iv didn’t hurt at all and didn’t bother me one bit. That was a nice surprise. Anxiety- I’ve passed out just from giving blood I get so nervous. They gave me some anti anxiety that felt like I had a nice drinking buzz. It kicked in a few min. Everything is a blur after. I kinda remember them telling me they were putting on a mask. Next thing you know I’m awake and kinda groggy. Throat was mildly sore. Still mildly hurts 8 hours later but no big deal. It was hard to take some sips of water at first. They gave me water and graham crackers- really hit the spot. I was a little nauseous for several hours but as I tried little bursts of walking it helped. I tried to eat some broth around lunch but got sick feeling sitting up. It’s like a really heavy nausea feeling but after laying down better in a few minutes. As the day progresses it went away. Pain: I had a couple shoulder pain incidents from the gas. I have both charcoal and gasx. Earlier I felt a lot of abdominal pressure and I felt the gasx did a good job of that. As I walk around I’m able to burp here and there. The belly button incision site hurts the worst. I’m gonna do the narcotics for 2 days. It’s like a lot of people say- like you did too many crunches at the gym. I alternate with ice pack and heat pad and so far so good. Th biggest surprise- I couldn’t urinate. I almost passed out standing up earlier in the day. It took me 4 attempts and 8 hours later to just get things going. Water flowing, towel in my abdomen, leaning forward helped. That made me nervous but given all the medication I understand. I know day 2 is worse pain but honestly I’ve felt much worse at 6am after having a bender in sleazy Reno casinos. Severe hangover is worse than this. In hindsight I should have eaten even more bland like a boiled chicken breast or something because perhaps that’s why it was inflamed? And I thought I’d have some kind of ptsd thinking about how an organ was ripped out of me. If I can do it, so can you. Great advice from others and the worst part was waiting so long to do this and all the worrying I do.
6/17 Edit: Great info guys. Keep it coming! If something changes, please let me know. I reached out to the mods asking about putting together a post to collect minimums for craps tables in Vegas and other places. If this post gains traction, it may get a sticky. It may also help cut down on the amount of posts asking for this info. I'll try to keep the body of the post updated. If information is correct, let me know. Update 6/18 - Nevada Gaming Board announced masks required at table games in Nevada. I haven't heard that this is being enforced yet. 6/30: Keep reporting, especially any of you heading to Vegas. We would love to hear what the mins are on the strip Let me know what casino, day or night and the minimums:

61 NEW CASES. The largest single-day increase of new COVID-19 cases in Washoe County.
Most people are not observing social distancing or wearing masks lately. I am concerned that we will follow Arizona and there will be a big surge. https://covid19washoe.com/press-release/regional-information-center-update-june-11/ Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting two additional COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County and the largest single-day increase of new COVID-19 cases in Washoe County. The deceased are a female in her 70s and a male in his 80s, both with underlying health conditions. There are 69 COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County. We’re also reporting 61 additional COVID-19 cases in Washoe County, the largest single-day increase. The previous high was 54 news cases reported on May 26 and May 17. The seven-day moving average for COVID-19 cases in Washoe County is about 35, which is the highest point. The previous high was about 32 on April 14. “This is a stark reminder that COVID-19 is still spreading at a concerning rate in Washoe County,” said Kevin Dick, Washoe County District Health Officer. “It’s been 98 days since we got our first case in Washoe County and just now we’ve reached the highest point in single-day cases and the seven-day moving average. We thought, and the models told us, our peak was probably behind us. Now we have a new higher peak of daily cases and may be moving higher yet. “Increased testing commercially at some casinos, the Washoe County drive-through test site and at some Walmart and CVS locations is leading to more cases; however, the rise is also attributed to people in our community failing to practice safe social distancing and mask use. We need to battle this virus together to protect our vulnerable populations and it starts by taking extreme precaution when going out into the community and only going out for essential needs.”
Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 1,893 (+61 from 6/10)
Deaths: 69 (+2)
Recoveries: 1,207 (+32)
Active cases: 617 (+27)
Currently hospitalized: 71 (+1)
Cases who have discharged from hospital: 153 (+4)
Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County
Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of June 11: 38,081 (+828 since 6/10)
Note: These figures are provided by the State of Nevada andcan be found on the State Dashboard. COVID-19 tests may include non-Washoe County residents who were tested in Washoe County. Hospital bed and ventilator information According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of June 10, 2020:
75 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (+5% since June 9)
40 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+1%)
COVID-19 Transit Impacts in US/Canada for 2020-05-18
😷 Wear a mask as you're coming back. I'm posting these with a historical intent. Links where possible, and let me know if your local is missing. NOTE: MOST AGENCIES ARE ASKING FOR ESSENTIAL TRAVEL ONLY -- MEDICAL AND SUPPLY RUNS, JOB TRANSIT FOR THOSE WHO PROVIDE THOSE SERVICES. STAY HOME! EXPECT DELAYS AS THEY RUN CRITICALLY LOW ON STAFF. Many agencies are requiring you wear a mask. Most ask you board from the back, and are putting limits on passenger boarding. Mask requirements are marked with "⚠️" and are because of state orders. If the agency has a pass app, please pay for the ride through it -- it helps the agency! (I have also taken the time to clean up and organize the list a bit)

COVID-19 Impacts on US/Canada transit for 2020-05-11
😷 Just wear a !)#$@( mask.

Mask requirements are marked with "!!!" If the agency has a pass app, please pay for the ride through it -- it helps the agency!
